As a large veterinary clinic there are many job descriptions within our organisation. These range from full-time senior veterinarians through to part-time or casual animal attendants. Of the various skills and qualifications required, the common attributes of our employees are:

Veterinarians in New Zealand must hold a Veterinary Degree recognized by the New Zealand Veterinary Council and a valid Annual Practicing Certificate. PETVET does not sponsor overseas veterinarians or employ overseas veterinary graduates as veterinary nurses. Veterinary Nurses employed at PETVET are expected to hold a recognised Diploma in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent qualification from an accredited tertiary institution.
Client Services employees must enjoy working with owners and their pets. They must have a pleasant and friendly manner, a comfortable telephone manner and a basic understanding of Microsoft Windows computer systems. Veterinary nursing qualifications are an advantage but not essential. Client Services positions can be full time or part-time involving evening, weekend and public holiday hours.
Animal Attendant positions are part time at weekends and week day afternoons. These positions are well suited to tertiary students studying towards a Veterinary Nursing or Animal Care qualification or for mature Secondary School students considering a career in Veterinary Science.
